Antiques golden seal ring set with a big diamond-brilliant with a lot of points. Characterised by master signs.
Period: Probably 19th century.
Dimension ring: 20 mm.
Seal rings were already carried by the Romans. Carat / karaat: The weight of
a gem is expressed in carat or Carat (1 carat = 0.2 grammes). The carat is subdivided
in 100 points and in two decimal places is always expressed e.g. 0.24 carats or 24 points.
The weight of a diamond is often measured with a digital balance. When can't say ecactly
when the first diamond saw daylight, but we know for sure that until the 18th century all
diamond came from India. As from the Roman time until the arrival of the first Europeans in
India at the beginning of the 16de centuries trade relations between Europe and Eastern Asia,
enlarged there, existed. The diamonds were then transported by means of so-called diamond
routes.
