A silversmith is someone who works primarily with silver practises the art of forming heated silver into
nicely shaped juwelry. The person is specialized in making jewels (from small brooches to large metal
objects) in which gold, platinum, silver, titanium or other durable metal have been processed. Making
and treating these jewels are labour-intensive, the material is of high quality and durable, the creations
are mostly unique.
Also the silversmith is often the designer of the jewel. For these reasons a silversmith
must question relatively high prices for his work. The silversmith makes jewels by treating the metal with
specialised tools, and has to heat it up to be able to deform these metals. For some jewels he uses matrices
in which is poured the liquid heated metal.Cheap implementation of jewels is a competitor for the silversmith.
The lower prices are obtained by using quality mass production and by using inferior materials.
